About Project

Sightfusion is a crack-detection application for the Japanese Market

Sightfusion is for Surveyors or Bridge Inspectors where the task is to Inspect the cracks on the bridge. After Inspecting, users generate a report of crack dimensions and forward it to the legal authorities.

Sightfusion hold two projects, Sightfusion for Inspection(Web)  & Sightfusion Capture(Tablet).

How it works

Bridge Inspector / Surveyor captures images using ‘Sightfusion for capture’ (Field app) which can be stitched while capturing.

Stitched Images can be uploaded to the Sightfusion for Inspection (web application) which generates crack dimensions.

1

Discover

In the discovery phase, I start by interviewing stakeholders to understand the requirements and user feedback, based on which I define the user and business goals.

In addition to stakeholder input, I did desk research which helped me to empathize with users’ needs and validated the data with stakeholders simultaneously. I defined the problem statement and conducted brainstorming with team members. Following brainstorming, we converged ideas with team members to ensure the most effective and feasible results. I collaborated closely with the team to break assumptions and deliver effective results.

Secondary Research

& Analysis

Bridge Study

NTJV Team focused on two bridges, Beam bridge & Box culvert. Currently, the product focusing on the smaller bridge which is less than 100m in size.

Understanding Bridge Structure

Beam Bridge holds different types of structures like Abutment, Pier, Superstructure, Footing..etc.

01_bridge_structure.png

Problem statement

Surveyors capture images of each surface of the bridge which can hold 200 images in one single project. To cover the 100 m length of the bridge, multiple projects can be created.

Since the concrete surface represented the same structure, it was difficult for the user to identify the project.

Insights

Inspectors denote the bridge area by the type of bridge structure.

Inspectors use a numbers system for each section of the bridge along with the first letter of bridge components like Abutment 1 as A1, Pillar 1 as P1…etc,

(image of A1, S1)

insights.png

Inspectors name the bridge name as their project name.

Since the stitched image is plain concrete, Inspector needs the concrete direction to understand the structure.

2

Define

I have defined information architecture and wireframes based on the solutions discussed above.

With the team, we iterated the wireframe workflow with different use case scenarios to ensure high-quality results.
